Diese Rebsorte verfügt über eine sehr große Verbreitung. Die Umgebung von Asti und Casale gelten als der Heimatort der Rebsorte.
Die Triebspitze ist rosa umrandet und grünweiß. Die Triebspitze ist starkwollig. Das junge Blatt ist stark bronziert und fünflappig.
Die Trauben sind pyramidenförmig, mittelgroß, geästet und kompakt.
Die Beeren sind dickschalig, haben eine schwarzblaue Farbe und einen gerbig sauren Geschmack.
Diese Sorte eignet sich gut für Eichenholzlagerung.
